Our Life at this moment

Came upon this lady's blog and we can't help but laugh, this is exactly what we are going through with our 21 month old now.  Being new parents to our 6 day old and having to deal with molars....Lord help us:)

The worst part of parenting a two year old

Posted on Jun 12, 2007 by Elle in Mommyhood

Up until now I thought that the worst parts of parenting a two year old were the constant temper tantrums, the significant lack of communication skills and the random hitting. I managed all of those bits. I came out reasonably unscathed. I’m a little dumber than when I went in, but so far I still have at least 2 brain cells to rub together. However, those last 2 cells are getting a run for their money. Nothing, I mean nothing, has prepared me for what we will refer to as teeth. Sure, by two most kids have the majority of their teeth. Parents of the home grown variety have been battling the teething thing for years by this point. Parents of the adopted variety get children with teeth already installed. Of course when the child is developmentally stunted all the teeth are not there yet. We’ve battled one year molars. I survived. But now… now we are facing the two year molars. Holy shit.

At 3:30 this afternoon I looked at the clock and wondered if it was ok to start drinking. My BIL (Uncle Nain) would tell me that if you are asking it is already too late. I had no clue that 2 year molars would be this bad. Of course in my house you have to couple cutting teeth with the added feature of “no.” Yep, the boy has learned the word no. It isn’t just any no though. It is this whiny and bossy, noooooo. Sometimes spoken but most often screamed.

Elle: Boy, are your teeth owee?

Boy: Nooooo! (coupled with a look as if to say, “bitch, stop asking me that”)

Elle: Would you like carrots or peas with dinner?

Boy: Nooooo! (meaning you can give me either, but no matter what you’ll be wearing them)

Elle: Boy, are you poo poo?

Boy: NOOOOO! (yes)

Elle: Get out of my flower bed right now.

Boy: Noooooo!

Elle: I’ll show you no.

You get the picture.

Between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. my child ate a banana. One banana. The second I set his lunch down in front of him he tried to chuck it at me. I removed the food and he proceeded to scream. That type of scream that is so loud that they almost make themselves throw up. I put him down for a nap. I seriously considered starting the drinking then.

With all the screaming and no saying I’ve kept my cool pretty well. I’ve been regularly taking a “med*” to help with the crazies. So far it seems to be working. I ran out today so you may want to be checking Ebay by the end of the week.

For Sale: Cute toe-headed toddler. Rubs chin and says, “I don’t know.” Likes Indian food the third Thursday of months ending in Q. Has an unnatural fascination with fans and toilets, but is afraid of public washrooms. Will charm the pants off of you my saying, “mung on mama.”

*Med meaning natural supplement of 5-HTP that is seratonin booster and seems to be working.

Adison at 19 months

Sorry we haven't posted in so long.  Baby Ansley is trying to come early so I have been trying to take things real easy, kindof hard to do when you are the caregiver of a very active toddler!
The past couple of months Adison has been adding more words to her vocabulary, her favorite is still "What's This".  She had a big growth spurt and is now almost 3ft. tall!  She still continues to sleep and nap well.  Our only obstacle with her is trying to get her to eat vegetables, she has a very fine palate and can even tell when we mix them in with her favorite foods!
We have just concluded our first 8 week swim class.  Adison is a natural, of course, and as soon as the new baby comes she will be back in the water for some more learning.  She also still enjoys her music class every week, along with frequent trips to the local parks and library.  Other than entertaining our little girl and sneaking in a date night here and there our lives have been pretty much boring.  We are finishing up the nursery for Ansley and keeping our fingers crossed that she stays put until at least Dec. 1st!

Adison Ella at 18 months

Its really hard to believe that our little girl has reached 1 1/2, time really does fly!  At 18 months Adison is into everything, including cabinets, toilets, Mommy's make-up vanity, daddy's sink, Calvin's dog bowls, and the list could go on.  Her currents hobbies are: swimming (she is enrolled in the YMCA swim class), dancing (enrolled in musikgarten of Lexington), watching Dora and Mickey Mouse, jumping, and climbing.  We, unfortunately, do not eat out as much anymore because she likes to entertain the other customers to the point that we don't really get to eat our food! She is a very happy baby and we are extremely blessed.

Branson, MO 2010

We just got back from a week long vacation with my Ka-ka, Papa, Lilly, Uncle Tanner, Aunt Michele, and Drake.  We went to Silver Dollar City, saw a musical called Noah, hung out by the pool, and just relaxed.  It was really hot, but I didn't mind, I think mommy did though.

Childrens Museum, Cincinnati

My first trip to the Childrens Museum in Cincinnati, OH was amazing!  There were so many things to see and play with, I just had to try and discover it all!

Summer Fun

Adison has had so much fun this summer playing in the water.  Last year she was still too young and absolutly hated it!  Glad that was a phase, because Chad and I really enjoy it.  She has a "few" water pools and toys and has been enjoying them on these hot summer days:)

Monkey Joe's

We had a blast at Monkey Joes!  For the first time Adison was able to run around in the floats by herself. She played really hard for about an hour, and then decided she was done.  As we were leaving she ran into her friend Paris.

Yes, this is what it looks like!

Crazzzyyyy last month!

WOW!!  What a busy month May has been for the Ford family!  I have been picking up lots of extra "12" hour shifts at work to help cover all the xray techs that are on leave right now, Chad has been in and out of town countless times, Adison has been sick (along with me), and we just returned from a 4 day stay in Kansas City, MO.  It was great being able to celebrate Memorial day with the other Fords, but as the saying goes, there's no place like home,e specially when your home has AC.  I have lots of new photos to post of our trip and, of course, Adison.  She is growing up too fast!  She currently enjoys swimming, playing tea party, watching Dora, and playing chase.  Always a fun day with her!!  We will try and post new pictures soon!

In regards to Fathers Day

I found this really cute article in Parenting magazine and thought I would share.

Reasons to Celebrate Dad
  1.   Someone needs to deal with the "some assembly required" stuff.
  2. Who else would dare face that black, fuzzy spider under the basement stairs?
  3. His shaving cream comes in handy for rainy-day crafts.
  4. He has an amazing ability to cheer up a cranky child merely by tossing him in the air.
  5. He's happy to discuss the finer points of old Road Runner and Coyote cartoons with the kiddos.
  6. No one else ever seems to know exactly where the bicycle-tire pump is.
  7. He insists that you look even better than you did before you had kids. (and if he's lying, he does it really, really well.
  8. Amazingly, macho man thought he is , he doesn't mind having his nails painted bright pink by an enthusiastic pre-school manicurist.
  9. He doesn't make fun of you when you do yoga in the living room.  Well, most of the time.
  10. Fatherhood looks sexier on him than you could have imagined.

Cute quote I found from my friend

"Southern girls are Gods gift to the entire male population. There is absolutely no women finer than one raised in the south.Once you go southern, may the good Lord help you, you never go back"- Kenny Chesney

Gotta love being a southern raised girl!
